Welcome to Our Incredible School

The Laurel School provides a loving, supportive environment promoting children with the opportunity, freedom, and trust to explore and learn. With consistent guidelines, structure and positive reinforcement children learn in an atmosphere of mutual respect. In this atmosphere, children develop confidence and a strong self-esteem and adults nurture and encourage children to become independent thinkers. Faculty members have high expectations for each individual child and design a program using a well-rounded curriculum to meet each child's needs. The Laurel School curriculum follows the Massachusetts Frameworks as a foundation but integrates fine arts, music, dance, environmental studies, physical education and Spanish with the basics. By utilizing an eclectic approach, our faculty members are able to teach to the many different learning styles and to enable the children to move at their individual pace. With confidence, children enjoy successes, take risks, and love to learn.

Our philosophy of Total Human Development (THD) reflects several factors that impact the “Whole Child”: Pedagogy (teaching/instructional methods), People (whole community), Programs (what we offer), Place (environment) and Proof (outcomes).  Each of these important pieces completes a picture of the ‘whole child’ to effectively guide students through their learning.  As educators, we explore educational influences to enable us to tailor projects and curriculum to align with our mission and philosophy, helping us build an education that fits each Laurel student.
"My daughter started at Laurel in pre-school and graduated fifth grade last year. We loved Laurel because it was such a nurturing and supportive environment while at the same time was academically demanding. It was not until My daughter started sixth grade at public school that We realized how academically superior Laurel is. She easily achieved straight A's this year in sixth and honestly could have skipped a grade. Amazing place!" - Parent
