Our Mission
We promote honesty, respect and kindness while providing a sense of community to give our campers confidence in a loving and safe environment where they can play, create, and learn all day! Our mission is to foster self-esteem and confidence, inspire a lifelong love of learning, a cultural appreciation; and, an environmental sensitivity and awareness where each child develops into a self-starter, an original thinker, and a perpetual learner. We emphasize cooperation, laughter, thoughtful resolution, positive reinforcement, tolerance, and an acceptance of difference.

That is the Laurel Day Camp way.

"The Laurel Day Camp was our first experience with an American summer camp and our first summer at the Cape. Everyday my son came home happy and excited about Laurel Day Camp. There were enough boys his age (8/9 years) for him to bond with and form great friendships with. The specific activities were spot on. He totally enjoyed them and loved kayaking. The counselors were kind and energetic and he truly enjoyed the youth CIT counselors. Every evening he could not wait for camp to start again. I loved the positive energy that I encountered every day when I brought him to camp. Both Amy and Courtney are always there with a smile and a very positive attitude. It was wonderful to be able to walk in and help him put his stuff in the locker, say hi to the different counselors and watch him meet up with his buddies. I felt a great sense of community during camp. I was able to meet some of the other parents/grandparents and arrange play dates and exchange phone numbers. Lost items were always handled with genuine kindness, understanding and professionalism. I would highly recommend Laurel Day Camp to other parents." - Camp Parent

Our swimming curriculum is a certified Red Cross Learn-to-Swim and water safety program that teaches each camper how to swim skillfully and safely. Campers are required to take part in group lessons as part of the daily schedule. These lessons are designed to meet the needs of each child in the group, and guide them towards improvement in their aquatic skills, stroke development, stroke refinement, and stroke proficiency. Campers are tested each Friday, as regulated by the Brewster Health Department. Campers receive a progress report, or a Red Cross Certification Card (if they have passed a level) for each camp session. All campers have swim time in the camps pool (weather and special events permitting).

Two and three year old campers have water play in the 1-foot section of the pool; Red Cross Group swimming lessons begin at age four. Private swimming lessons are available for all age groups.  We take every precaution to insure each camper's health and safety.  All swimmers are supervised by a certified lifeguard counselors and counselors; and, we maintain and clean the pool regularly.
